We are very proud to report that Honda North in Butler, Pa won the "Turn it up" contest against 21 competing Honda dealers in Pennyslvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and beyond. The new Honda North on in Butler, Pa is continuing at a beautiful rate.  The progress once enclosed has been amazing.  Associated Contractors of Conneaut Lake, Pa has once again continued to impress.  Within the past week, all cement has been poured for the showroom and office areas, as well as the entire front office structure framing completed and erected. It's fascinating to see the whole project continue to take shape and the flow of the operations now visible.  Soon the customer service drive, shop floor, and indoor delivery area floors will be poured in Earthen colored concrete and all bases will be completed.

Recent accomplishments of the new Honda North include the full completion of the steel framing, progress on the GlassRoc exterior paneling , completion of all indoor plumbing, interior wiring for electrical work, and preparation for the pouring of the foundation which will occur next week.   All of the exterior cutouts for the windows and doors have been performed, as well as grading of the interior floor for the foundation. 

Further details have been worked out including the color of the poured concrete floors, style of overhead doors to be used, and selection of the type of tinted glass to be used in the showrooms.  Additionally, surveillance plans as well as car wash and shop details have recently been approved.  Our target date is still May 1^st and all indications are that this is a realistic goal.  Thanks for looking.

Further developments on the new Honda North in Butler include the initial layer of asphalt, roof insulation in preparation for roof completion, as well as grading of the interior.  Installation of the building materials should be priority over the next couple of weeks in an effort to start enclosing before the lower temperatures come.  The contractors of Associated Contractors in Conneaut Lake continue to impress with their professionalism and quality of work.  

In the next weeks to come we will put closer focus on Service Center lift planning and installation, completion of the car wash details, and additional interior detail planning.

Honda North in Butler, Pa was recently honored by a visit from Dick Szamborski, Vice President of National Sales of American Honda Automobile Division.  Mr. Szamborski spent the afternoon with the Partners at Honda North to recognize their recent achievements of new Honda sales, and to take a first hand look at the construction of their new facility on Evans City Rd. in Butler, Pa.  Honda North is the one of the first dealerships in the country to be building a second new facility, due to outgrowing the existing facility in 4 short years.  When Honda North purchased Country Motors Honda in May, 2005, existing Honda new car sales volume in Butler was approximately 500 units.  In 2008, Honda North fell just short of 1000 new Hondas.  Preowned sales have increased over 400% in these 4 years as well.  Honda North is now ranked as one of the two highest volume Honda Certified Preowned dealers in the Pittsburgh Region, which includes all Honda dealers from Erie, Pa to northern West Virginia.

Mr. Szamborski toured the dealerships existing facility and examined the architectural drawings for Honda North's new facility, which will be approximately 29,500 square feet and will have both new and used vehicle showrooms, an indoor vehicle delivery area, as well as climate controlled indoor service drive.  Honda North Partners were honored by the visit by Dick Szambo, as he's known within American Honda.  He is the 2nd in command in the United States with American Honda Automotive Division; for him to take the time to travel to Butler, Pa to recognize our achievements is a visit that will be remembered for some time.

Honda North in Butler, Pa received approval this week from Connoquenessing Township to begin construction of a brand new, state of the art 26,000+ square foot Honda dealership on the intersection of Route 68 (Evans City Rd.) and Kreiss Rd. on Wednesday, August 5th at the Township meeting.  The new facility is scheduled to open on May 1st, 2010 and will include a climate controlled indoor service drive, indoor vehicle delivery area, and a 12 vehicle used car showroom. The new dealership will have over 300 parking spaces on 5 acres and will double our current facilities Service bays and Sales offices.

Honda North breaks ground on facility
Growing dealer needs more room

CONNOQUENESSING TWP — Honda North will begin construction this week on its new 26,000 square foot facility on Kreiss Road.
Owners and employees gathered Friday at the site, which now is 8 acres of grassy field, for an official groundbreaking.
"We've been working on this for about two years. We've outgrown our current facility as well as the ability to service our customers the way we want to," said Jon Palmiero, vice president of the dealership.
Honda North has doubled its sales volume from about 500 to 1,000 new Honda vehicles a year in the past five years, according to American Honda District Sales Manager Michael Oberschelp.
The new facility will cover about 5 acres of the site, and will include new amenities such as indoor service delivery and a used car showroom.
It will expand Honda North's service division to 20 vehicle bays from the nine bays at the current 17,000 square foot building at 630 Evans City Road. It also will double the number of service technicians from seven to about 15.
With new sales personnel and service advisors, the dealership's total employees will rise from 39 to about 55.
"This is a great thing for the township. I'm happy we could get everything worked out to keep Honda North here and bring some jobs to the area," Supervisor Jack Kaltenbaugh said.
As part of its agreement with the township, Honda North must add a turning lane to Kreiss Road, where its delivery trucks will enter, and contribute $87,500 toward turning lanes on Route 68 at its intersection with Kreiss Road.
Township supervisors estimated the cost of Route 68 turning lanes at $350,000 to $450,000. Should federal stimulus money contribute to the installation, Honda North's obligation would be lessened.
Associated Contractors, based in Conneaut Lake, is overseeing the project and will subcontract some of the work to local companies.
"We'd like to be in the new building by May 1. We hope to move everything in one day, so there is no down time," Palmiero said.
The Honda dealership has been in the township since 1972, when it occupied the former Nissan dealership next to Honda North's current facility.
Honda North has been in its current building, which it leases, since 2005.
Palmiero said the building's owner is interviewing prospective tenants for when the dealership moves.
